I do not know the name of this painting or the artist. It hangs next to the pews in the Mission at San Luis Obispo in San Luis Obispo, California. I like to think that it is a mother watching over her peacefully sleeping child, perhaps even Mary and Jesus. I will follow up with an email to the mission to see if there is any more information.
