A humble donkey carried Mary and her newborn child home. To farming families, the gift of a livestock animal is a way to self-reliance. Heifer International works to end hunger by giving families livestock and training in return for passing on animals' offspring to others.
Heifer International is helping activist citizens in Romania to preserve horses called Furiosos, a breed developed there. The Communist regime slaughtered so many Furioso horses that only 600 remained. Today 45 small farms will receive Furiosos to do draft work.
