American Hospice Foundation
Hospice workers are angels for patients near death and their grieving families. The American Hospice Foundation supports local hospices by working to improve access to, and the quality of, hospice care. The foundation provides "public education, professional training, and advocacy on behalf of consumers."
The foundation supports a multi-dimensional approach to hospice care, ideally in the home setting: medical, nursing, emotional, and spiritual. Their philosophy centers on respect for the decisions of patients and family members, during and after a patient's death.
